Freddy Tan is the Cyber Security Strategist with Microsoft where his role is to provide a trusted, strategic and risk-based approach to cybersecurity consult, advice and planning to address cyber threats directed at national defence and public safety agencies and critical infrastructure services providers. Before joining Microsoft, he served with the Ministry of Defense, Singapore (MINDEF) and Singapore Armed Forces. In the course of his 25 years with the MINDEF, he was involved in many aspects of in infocomm security ranging from security policy formulation to security monitoring and incident response.
Besides being appointed as the Cloud Security Alliance APAC Strategy Advisor, he is also currently involved in the following:
- Chairman, (ISC)2 Board of Directors
- Co-Chair, (ISC)2 Asia Advisory Board
- Vice-President, Association of Information Security Professionals
- Member, National Infocomm Competency Framework (NICF) Expert Panel
Freddy Tan is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) with a MSc in Information Systems Security awarded from the London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE), University of London. Outside of work, Freddy enjoys recreational scuba diving and volunteers as a local reef guide for Blue Water Volunteers. He also has an interest in military and ancient history.
