(ISC)² Names 2011 Inaugural Americas Information Security Leadership Award Finalists and Winners

Cloud Security Alliance’s Becky Swain Recognized as Finalist in Category of Information Security Practitioner

Palm Harbor, Fla., U.S.A., Oct 3, 2011(ISC)²® (“ISC-squared”), the world’s largest information security professional body and administrators of the CISSP®, today recognized the finalists of its Inaugural Americas Information Security Leadership (Americas ISLA) Awards. Becky Swain of the Cloud Security Alliance received recognition as an Americas ISLA finalist for demonstrating excellence and innovation in the category of Information Security Practitioner. (ISC)² celebrated six finalists and announced the four winners, highlighting each of their distinguished information security achievements at a gala dinner, held on September 21, 2011, at The Peabody in Orlando, Fla., U.S.A. “I am grateful to accept this honor, on behalf of the many amazing CSA contributors who continue to drive cutting-edge research on the many aspects of cloud security,” said Swain, a founding member of the CSA, and board member of the Silicon Valley Chapter. “Our continued work in this area will significantly help organizations and end-users who are looking to harness the power of the cloud in a safe, secure environment.” With the success of its current regional Information Security Leadership Awards (ISLA) program in the U.S. federal government and Asia-Pacific, (ISC)² expanded ISLA this year to laud the accomplishments of private and public sector industry leaders outside of U.S. federal government throughout the Americas who are driving change within the information security workforce. The program recognizes professionals who are leading initiatives that resulted in a stronger, more qualified information security workforce in North, Central and South America in the categories of:
  • Senior Information Security Professional
  • Managerial Professional for an Information Security Project
  • Information Security Practitioner
  • Up-and-Coming Information Security Professional
  • Special Recognition - ‘Community Service Star’
“Expanding the ISLA program to the Americas was a logical step for us given the wealth of information security innovation, leadership and talent in this region,” said W. Hord Tipton, CISSP-ISSEP, CAP, CISA, executive director of (ISC)². “We were pleased with the caliber of finalists for our inaugural year, and we congratulate them on their pioneering achievements. With the current acute shortage of qualified information security personnel, the ISLA program provides a platform for these information security leaders to inspire the industry and their peers to shape the future of this critical profession.” For a complete list of 2011 finalists and winners or more information about the Americas ISLA awards, please visit https://www.isc2.org/aisla/.
