Cloud Security Alliance Announces Addition to Keynote Line Up and Plans to Unveil New CSA STAR Tool

Tim Rains of Microsoft to Present on Securing Data for Cloud Computing

Rome, Italy – November 13, 2014 - The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) and MIS Training Institute today announced the addition of keynote presenter Tim Rains, Director, Trustworthy Computing of Microsoft who will speak on “Securing Data for Cloud Computing” at CSA EMEA Congress 2014 being held November 18-20 at the Parco dei Principi Grand Hotel and Spa in Rome, Italy. In his presentation, Rains will outline key, unrealized benefits of cloud computing including cost savings, the ability to alter capacity quickly, and additional security measures. He will also discuss key issues to consider in cloud adoption and also how, by having a unique approach to security, privacy, and compliance, organizations can realize the benefits of the cloud and focus on their core business. Finally, Rains will also discuss how cloud adopters can seek assurances that the data stored in the cloud stays secure and protected. Additionally, CSA CEO Jim Reavis will unveil the first version of the CSA Security, Trust and Assurance Registry (STAR) tool. The tool, developed in collaboration with Neupart, will facilitate the use of the CSA Cloud Control Matrix (CCM), Consensus Assessments Initiative Questionnaire (CAIQ), Privacy Level Agreement (PLA) and the potential sharing of results. “This year’s EMEA Congress event will include such a dynamic and broad coalition of industry experts, from cloud providers, end users and policy makers, who are truly at the forefront in the development and adoption of cloud computing in Europe,” said Reavis. “By combining their key learnings and best practices, together with the introduction of new tools such as the CSA STAR, our delegates will walk away with a wealth of knowledge that they can immediately apply for secure cloud adoption in their organization.” Cloud Security Alliance Congresses continue to be the industry’s premier gathering for IT security professionals and executives who must further educate themselves on the rapidly evolving subject of cloud security. In addition to offering best practices and practical solutions for remaining secure in the cloud, CSA Congresses give attendees exposure to industry-specific case studies that will help them learn and leverage best practices used by their peers in moving to a secure cloud.
