Cloud Security Alliance Mobile Working Group Opens Annual Mobile Market Maturity Survey

Group Seeks Global Input to Understand Current Market Maturity and Needed Processes to Manage Enterprise Mobile Technology

CSA EMEA 2013 – Edinburgh, Scotland – September 24, 2013 – The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) Mobile Working Group today launched its second annual Mobile Market Maturity Survey, with the purpose of aiding the CSA, as well as enterprises and individual consumers, in understanding the current maturity level of the mobile marketplace. This year’s survey continues on gathering data in the areas of bring you own device (BYOD), mobile device management (MDM), policy, application store use, security and compliance. “Smart phones, tablets, and other advanced mobile technologies have now gained acceptance and even prominence in today’s enterprise work environment. In order to help IT and security professionals continue to protect their companies’ data, it’s important to develop a maturity model to understand how these devices are currently being used and managed. Having this information will help develop a foundation of what businesses are currently doing and how they can continue to improve their security posture around mobile technologies,” said David Lingenfelter, co-chair of the CSA Mobile Working Group. “The results from this survey will be very helpful in developing processes to help individual enterprises continue to advance their use and management of mobile technology.” For its second annual survey, the CSA plans to draw comparisons to last year’s results to determine any changes or market shifts that should be addressed by enterprises. Additionally, the CSA plans to conduct geographic analysis of the results to better understand the maturity levels between different global markets. The survey, which should take 5-10 minutes to complete, can be accessed at The results of the survey will be released at the CSA Summit, being held at the RSA Conference in February 2014. The CSA Mobile Working Group, lead by co-chairs David Lingenfelter of Fiberlink and industry expert Cesare Garlati, is responsible for providing fundamental research to help secure mobile endpoint computing from a cloud-centric point of view.
