Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) Announces EMC Has Joined CSA as an Executive Corporate Member

Longstanding Member to Help CSA Promote Best Practices and Standards in EMEA

London – Infosecurity Europe – April 29, 2014 – The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) today announced that EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC) has joined the CSA as an executive corporate member and has become a member of the CSA EMEA Advisory Council. As a result, EMC will participate in key research with the CSA on Horizon 2020, the EU framework program for research and innovation. EMC is also a sponsor of the recently announced Privacy Level Agreement (PLA) Working Group, which helps cloud service providers (CSPs) and potential cloud customers objectively evaluate privacy standards and provides a clear and effective way to communicate to customers (and potential customers) the level of data protection offered by a CSP. "The promise of cloud computing brings with it the same or even greater risk of attack as in enterprise environments," said Art Coviello, Executive Vice President, EMC and Executive Chairman, RSA, The Security Division of EMC. "As an industry, we have the opportunity to ensure cloud infrastructures and applications have built-in, rather than bolted-on security controls and that they leverage intelligence-driven Big Data security solutions. This is the perfect time to help organizations achieve the full potential of cloud business models while managing risk of fraud and advanced cyber threats. CSA is the right consortium to tackle these issues and EMC and RSA are proud to play a larger role by joining the leadership board." Horizon 2020 is the financial instrument of the European Commission implementing the Innovation Union, a Europe 2020 flagship initiative aimed at securing Europe's global competitiveness.
