Mobile Application Testing Firm Partners with CSA to Collaborate on Research for Next Generation Mobile Application Testing and Assurance

Singapore – February 24, 2015The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), a not-for-profit organization with a mission to promote the use of best practices for providing security assurance within cloud computing, today announced that Gapertise, a Taiwan-based mobile application testing company has joined the CSA as an Executive Member, becoming the third company from the APAC region to join the CSA at this level. As an Executive Member, Gapertise will collaborate with the CSA to create a new research capability and working group to provide industry leading best practices for mobile application security assurance and validation. The collaborative effort will also provide a roadmap for implementation of the best practices and testing framework. The newly formed working group will harness the collective knowledge of the CSA community to address the potential security vulnerabilities that are unique to mobile environments. “We are thrilled to welcome Gapertise as CSA’s newest Executive Member and are eager to begin collaborating with them to create a robust mobile application testing framework and to explore programs to integrate this capability within the mobile computing ecosystem, which will serve to ensure the integrity of tomorrow’s mobile applications,” said Aloysius Cheang, Managing Director APAC, for the CSA. “Gapertise brings significant domain expertise to the table and we are confident they will be an invaluable partner to the CSA as we address the mobile application market, which is wholly delivered and managed by cloud computing.” In addition to the fundamental research that will be developed, Gapertise will also work with the CSA to deliver educational programs and courseware to help assure that the industry can better deliver, test and deploy secure mobile applications. The program will be comprised of an ecosystem of partners, vendors, users, government organization as well as other related stakeholders. “Application vetting is going to be an important component in the entire security supply chain for cloud services. This timely initiative will be an important initiative for CSA research this year,” said Luciano(J.R.) Santos, Vice President for Research and Member Services. The two-year agreement, with a two-year option to extend the partnership, will be managed from CSA APAC’s Research and Development Centre in Taiwan. “We are strong advocates of the CSA’s mission to define and promote security best practices for the cloud and believe the security frameworks they are defining will be critical for the next generation of mobile applications,” said Frank Tsai, Chairman for Gapertise. “As an Executive Member, we look forward to working closely with the CSA and other member organizations to advance a highly secure infrastructure that will drive the industry and ecosystem forward.” About the Cloud Security Alliance The Cloud Security Alliance is a not-for-profit organization with a mission to promote the use of best practices for providing security assurance within Cloud Computing, and to provide education on the uses of Cloud Computing to help secure all other forms of computing.
