Amit Yoran Receives the 2016 Industry Leadership Award from the Cloud Security Alliance

RSA President is honored for diverse accomplishments furthering the information security industry

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – February 29, 2016 RSA Conference USA 2016 – The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) has named RSA President Amit Yoran as the 2016 recipient of the CSA Industry Leadership Award. The CSA Industry Leadership Award is given to individuals in recognition of their contributions in advancing secure cloud computing initiatives.

“Amit Yoran is one of information security’s most accomplished executives: a successful serial entrepreneur, a dedicated cybersecurity pioneer in the US government and now the leader of one the industry’s most important companies,” said Jim Reavis, CEO of CSA. “Amit has also forthrightly addressed the weaknesses in our industry and has set the bar high in terms of articulating the changes we must make to solve the toughest security problems as a community. The CSA board of directors is delighted with this year’s selection for our leadership award.” A West Point graduate, Amit was a pioneer in creating the managed security services provider (MSSP) market as the founding CEO of Riptech. Amit served as National Cybersecurity Director in the US Department of Homeland Security and oversaw the launch of the US CERT. Amit then founded NetWitness, which revolutionized network security analysis and forensics, leading it to its acquisition by RSA.
“I would like to thank the Cloud Security Alliance for bestowing me with this honor, and the leadership they are showing in creating security best practices for cloud computing and next generation information technology,” said Amit. “The long time partnership between CSA and the RSA Conference provides an excellent platform to make progress towards our shared goal of a more secure cyberspace.” Amit is the 5th recipient of the annual CSA Leadership Award, joining previous recipients Qualys CEO Philippe Courtot, ENISA Executive Director Udo Helmbrecht, Microsoft Corporate Vice President Scott Charney and Trend Micro CEO Eva Chen.

RSA Conference attendees are invited to attend the award presentation at the CSA Summit on Monday, February 29 at Moscone West, Room 2014. The ceremony will occur at 1pm.
