Cloud Security Alliance and SAFECode to Host Inaugural Developer Day Training Event in Bay Area as Part of Privacy.Security.Risk 2016 Conference Event

Leading Industry Experts to Demonstrate and Discuss the Latest Techniques and Case Studies in Software Assurance and New Frontiers in Software Security

Seattle, WA – August 29, 2016 – The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), the world’s leading organization dedicated to defining and raising awareness of best practices to help ensure a secure cloud computing environment, and the Software Assurance Forum for Excellence in Code (SAFECode), a global, industry-led effort to identify and promote best practices for developing and delivering more secure and reliable software, hardware and services, today announced their first SAFECode/CSA Developer Day a free training event scheduled for Monday, September 12, in San Jose, CA. The Developer Day is being held as part of a week-long series of trainings, workshops and conference presentations taking place at the upcoming Privacy.Security.Risk 2016 conference scheduled for September 13-16 at the San Jose Convention Center.

“Cloud computing is an incredibly powerful tool for increasing developer agility, but it is also so much more,” said J.R. Santos, Executive Vice President of Research for the CSA. “When implemented properly, it brings massive security advantages that allow for security by design.”

The inaugural half day event is being held to provide practitioners with an important general primer on the core principles and applications of software assurance, and how to build in security utilizing cloud and devops practices. Attendees will also be provided with insight on state-of-the-art software assurance trends and learn how they can deepen their knowledge of software assurance. The event agenda includes three sessions:

  • SafeCode: Driving Software Assurance
  • CSA: Cloud + Dev = Security Awesome
  • Putting Theory into Practice: Software Assurance Case Studies

“Secure software development is a critical component in the ongoing effort to advance the security of both cloud computing and the broader technology infrastructure,” said Eric Baize, chairman, SAFECode. “We are looking forward to partnering with the Cloud Security Alliance to present this inaugural Developer Day for cloud software developers. SAFECode’s presentation at Developer Day will focus on software assurance best practices and the unique security considerations of cloud software developers.”

SAFECode and CSA created the Developer Day with two goals in mind. The first being to share recent developments and trends in the practice of software assurance across a number of different domains and the second, to demonstrate the top ways to combine development practices like DevOps with cloud deployments to increase security without slowing things down.
