Cloud Security Alliance Launches New Greater China Regional Coordinating Body

Beijing, China –China Cloud Computing General Conference– May 20, 2011 – Today at the China Cloud Computing General Conference, the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) announced the formation of a new Greater China Regional Coordinating Body, to facilitate the growing interest in best practices for cloud security within the region. The coordinating body aims to promote CSA initiatives in the worldwide Chinese-speaking security professional community, and to contribute to the CSA with active study and research on industry requirements and business cases in the region. To date, the CSA has established chapters in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, and has chapters in development in Hong Kong and Taipei. “The greater China region has shown an incredible level of interest, and is contributing greatly to the Cloud Security Alliance,” said Jim Reavis, executive director of the CSA. “We are pleased to announce this expanded presence, and look forward to the coordinating body facilitating greater participation and elevating the level of education on this subject across the region.” Dr. Yuejin Du, Deputy CTO of CNCERT and Director of the Security Research Institute, said, “The Cloud Security Alliance is an active global organization. It's my pleasure to see its fast growth and promotion in China, being a critical contributor to the development of cloud computing and security within China.” "Greater China is one of the key regions leading cloud computing adoption,” said Aloysius Cheang, CSA’s Asia Pacific Strategy Advisor. “The establishment of the CSA Greater China Regional Coordinating Body will help us further our mission of understanding and resolving the issues of trust, security and privacy facing cloud computing, both from a local perspective as well as contributing ultimately to the global understanding." The original board of directors of the previously established Greater China Chapter will become the board of directors for the Regional Coordinating Body.
