Cloud Security Alliance Welcomes TÜV Rheinland as Global Corporate Member

TÜV Rheinland Singapore to Become First CSA STAR Certifying Body in Southeast Asia

Suntec, Singapore -- October 30, 2014 -- TÜV Rheinland, a global leader in independent inspection services, and Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), a not-for-profit organization that promotes the use of best practices for providing security assurance within cloud computing, signed a global corporate membership agreement during the CSA APAC Summit. In addition, TÜV Rheinland Singapore entered an agreement to become a certification body for CSA Security, Trust and Assurance Registry (STAR) certification and will thus be the first CSA STAR certifying body in Southeast Asia that can provide out of one hand CSA STAR, MTCS (Multi-Tier Cloud Security) and TÜV Rheinland Certified Cloud Service (accepted by ENISA) audit and certification. Both parties agreed to streamline future global certification activities. TÜV Rheinland, with its Certified Cloud Service Certification, and CSA STAR Certification complement each other to serve a wider range of industries without borders. Jim Reavis, CEO of Cloud Security Alliance, pointed out that the cooperation will be beneficial for customers around the world: “The cloud security consulting and certification services provided by TÜV Rheinland are an excellent addition to Cloud Security Alliance. CSA STAR Certification and TÜV Rheinland's own Certified Cloud Service Certification fit together very well and a partnership to further align these certification schemes will benefit the industry and further the efforts to demonstrate trust within cloud computing.” The market for cloud service certification provides various schemes that must be aligned in order to provide seamless solutions. “The growth of the general cloud computing market implies trust by consumers. The mutual recognition that is in the pipeline for the future provides opportunities to enhance transparent and accurate approaches for the certification of the increasing number of use cases and their adoption into cloud computing,” said Hendrik A. Reese, Business Development Manager Cloud Computing at TÜV Rheinland. About TÜV Rheinland TÜV Rheinland is a global leader in independent inspection services, founded more than 140 years ago.
