Cloud Security Alliance Expands APAC Region Leadership Team

Leaders from Microsoft, University of Waikato, Phitech Corporation and ASEAN to Guide Organization’s Rapid Growth of CSA in APAC Market

CSA CONGRESS ASIA PACIFIC – Singapore - May 10, 2013 -– The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), a not-for-profit organization with a mission to promote the use of best practices for providing security assurance within Cloud Computing, today announced that it has expanded its leadership team with the addition of several key volunteer leadership appointments that will support the organization’s, expanding operations, marketing and membership activities in the CSA APAC Region. Together with the APAC Executive Council with Ken Low of Trend Micro as the current chairman, this completes the management structure of CSA APAC. The CSA APAC leadership team appointments include Freddy Tan, Cyber Security Strategist with Microsoft as CSA APAC Strategic Advisor; Dr. Ryan Ko, Senior Lecturer with the Computer Science department and leader of the Cyber Security Lab with the University of Waikato as CSA APAC Research Advisor; Stephanie Chan, President of Phitech Corporation as CSA APAC Marketing Head for the East and South Asia regions and Hong-Sin Kwek, International Liaison Officer with CIO16 Association and IT industry veteran as the CSA APAC Marketing Head for the Australia and New Zealand Regions (ANZ), and Southeast Asia regions. “The APAC region remains a core strategic region for cloud security and membership growth. We have found that it is of strategic importance to attract a talented and diverse team to support the vision and goals of the organization,” said Jim Reavis, Executive Director of the CSA “On behalf the CSA, I would like to acknowledge and thank these esteemed individuals for the time and dedication that will be put forward in the months ahead.“ The leadership team will work to strengthen the CSA efforts in chapter membership management, research, marketing and corporate membership management to better serve the current and future CSA APAC membership base. Additionally, the team looks to extend CSA APAC into untapped regions where cloud security adoption remains relatively new and immature. “We are seeing incredible interest in CSA throughout APAC, and tremendous growth in our regional chapters,” said Aloysius Cheang, Managing Director APAC, for the Cloud Security Alliance. “We are very fortunate to have such a remarkable team in place who are dedicated and passionate about helping further our mission of promoting secure cloud computing for organizations and end users locally and globally.” The CSA APAC team will take part in the inaugural CSA APAC Congress taking place May 15-16 at the Marriott Hotel in Singapore.The CSA Congresses continue to be the industry’s premier gathering for IT security professionals and executives who must further educate themselves on the rapidly evolving subject of cloud security. In addition to offering best practices and practical solutions for remaining secure in the cloud, CSA Congress will focus on emerging areas of growth and concern in cloud security, including standardization, transparency of controls, mobile computing, Big Data in the cloud and innovation.
