San Francisco, CA – RSA CONFERENCE - February 25, 2012 –The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) has named Scott Charney, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft, as the 2013 recipient of the CSA Industry Leadership Award. The CSA Industry Leadership Award is given to individuals in recognition of their contributions in advancing secure cloud computing initiatives. An early member of the CSA, Charney is being recognized for his leadership role in driving world-class security via Microsoft’s Trustworthy Computing Group, along with his many holistic contributions to CSA research, events, and chapters around the world. “Scott has played a critical leadership role at Microsoft in driving the Trustworthy Computing Group and his influence has been critical to helping drive new industry standards and security best practices,” said Jim Reavis, Executive Director of the CSA. “Since joining the CSA, Scott has worked tirelessly to support the CSA mission. In addition to helping Microsoft become the first major provider to establish public transparency with a CSA STAR entry, Scott has consistently demonstrated leadership on both national and international levels.” As Microsoft Corp.’s Vice President, Trustworthy Computing, Charney oversees the company’s Trustworthy Computing initiative, which aims to promote a safe, private and reliable computing experience for everyone.
