CSA Announces SecureCloud 2014 Conference Opening Keynote, Neelie Kroes, Vice President of the European Commission
Edinburgh (UK), Amsterdam (NL) and Seattle, WA – February 11, 2014 – The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) today announced that the esteemed Neelie Kroes, Vice President of the European Commission, will give the opening keynote at the SecureCloud 2014 conference taking place April 1-2, 2014 at the Amsterdam RAI Convention Centre in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Since 2010, Kroes has held the responsibility over the Digital Agenda for Europe. This portfolio includes the information and communications technology (ICT) and telecommunications sectors. As a strong promoter of the adoption of cloud computing in Europe, Kroes has been actively supporting actions to lower the barriers to the uptake of the cloud in the internal market. “The addition of Neelie Kroes to the SecureCloud 2014 conference completes a powerful keynote line-up, and one that will provide attendees with a truly unique conference event we are most excited to deliver,” said Daniele Catteddu, Managing Director EMEA for the CSA. “Her views and vision for Europe’s digital future are important in shaping what lies ahead for cloud computing security.” SecureCloud 2014 will also include a number of important panels focused on legal issues, cryptography, incident reporting, critical information infrastructures and certification and compliance including, Certification and Cloud Security: Leaders from the CSA, ENISA, LaCAIXA, BSI, and the EC will discuss the role of security certification in providing assurance, transparency and ultimately trust in the cloud market. Panelists will provide the audience with an overview on the most relevant certification currently available, the level of maturity of each and the pros and cons of each certification. Data Protection and Security in the Cloud: Key representatives from the Task force on EU Data Protection Reform, ICO and the European Privacy Association and FOKUS will discuss possible scenarios related to the newly proposed EU privacy legal framework and dive into its implication and impact on cloud computing market. Also discussed will be the Code of Conduct for privacy currently under development in the EC Selected Industry Group. The expert panel will also look to provide useful recommendations on how to address one of the most difficult and debated issues in the cloud, privacy compliance. SecureCloud 2014 produced by the CSA, ENISA and Fraunhofer-FOKUS is an opportunity for government experts, industry experts and corporate decision makers to discuss and exchange ideas about how to shape the future of cloud computing security. It is also a place to learn from cloud computing experts about cloud computing security and privacy as well as to discuss about practical case studies from industry and government. SecureCloud 2014 will also feature a pre-conference training session on the Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK) and a post conference STAR Certification Lead Auditor training (3-4) as well as a series of workshops and meetings the day before and after the main event, such as Cloud Security Alliance technical working groups, ENISA expert groups, Cloud for Europe, Accountability for Cloud, and SPECS and Cloud WATCH workshops.
