The 2026 survey results indicate a significant shift in cloud security priorities. Identity, artificial intelligence, third-party dependencies, and APIs now dominate the cloud threat landscape, while traditional infrastructure-centric concerns continue to decline in relative importance. Most notably, two new AI-related issues, AI-Enhanced Attacks and AI System Compromise, entered the Top Threats rankings in second and sixth place, respectively, highlighting the growing influence of AI on both attack methods and defensive strategies. The Top Threats report aims to raise awareness of cloud threats, vulnerabilities, and risks.
In this installment, we surveyed 507 industry experts on security issues in the cloud industry. Our
respondents identified 11 important security issues in their cloud environments this year. The Top
Threats Working Group used the survey results and its expertise to create the “Top Threats to Cloud
Computing 2026” report.
