Announcing the Security@ San Francisco 2019 Agenda

By the HackerOne Team

The agenda for the third annual hacker-powered security conference, Security@ San Francisco, is live! Security@ is the only conference dedicated to the booming hacker-powered security industry, where hackers and leaders come together to build a safer internet. The conference takes place on October 15, 2019 at the Palace of Fine Arts and will include talks by security leaders from some of the most innovative security teams (think: Slack, Shopify, Department of Defense). In addition, hackers from all over the world will discuss lessons learned from defending the front lines, scaling security teams, and addressing the talent gap. 2019 promises to be our largest event yet with over 500 attendees, a panel with the million dollar hackers and a fireside chat from Phil Venables, Senior Advisor & Board Director at Goldman Sachs. Take our word, you don’t want to miss it!

By popular demand, Security@ 2019 will include multiple sessions featuring top hackers, deeper insights from customers and learnings from the broader security community. Attendees will walk away from the day long event, with an understanding of how to build and scale a successful hacker-powered security program and reduce the risk of future breaches.

Who will be there?
At last year’s sold out event, security experts heard from leaders at organizations like Priceline, Yelp, U.S. Department of Justice, SumoLogic and Department of Defense. This year’s event will dive deeper into various aspects of vulnerability disclosure, bug bounty and hacker-powered pentest programs, and dissect hacker motivations. This will be our biggest event yet!

What don’t I want to miss?
This year we have lined up another action-packed agenda with lively discussions around topics from scaling security teams to new policy. In addition, attendees will hear from both hackers and security teams on lessons learned through bug bounty and vulnerability disclosure programs (VDPs). The 2019 agenda highlights include:

  • Fireside chat with Phil Venables, Senior Advisor & Board Director at Goldman Sachs
  • Hear first hand from the hackers who earned $1 million in bounties, to understand their varied approaches to bug hunting, and what keeps them loyal and motivated.
  • Security professionals at today’s fast-growing tech innovators including Slack, Postmates, and Shopify discuss how to build a security program that grows and evolves with a rapidly scaling organization.
  • Policy leaders including Harley Geiger, Director of Public Policy at Rapid7 tasked with spearheading cybersecurity progress within the federal government, will share why they believe responsible disclosure as a best practice is no longer enough and how they plan to effect change at a regulatory level.
  • Director of the DoD’s VDP Kris Johnson and Hack the Air Force winner Jack Cable (@cablej) will present lessons learned through the 10,000 vulnerabilities found in DoD programs on HackerOne, what it’s like participating in DoD Challenges, and tapping global talent in the name of national security.
  • Hear from the hackers who have hacked their way through the cybersecurity skills gap with training from hacker-powered security programs. These bug bounty hackers are now at some of the leading security teams and paying it forward by supporting new talent emerging within the security community.
