CSA also hosted its 5th annual APAC Chapter Leadership Workshop on April 11, an annual event that provides a platform to report Chapter activities and progress and work plan for the year. Eighteen Chapters from across Asia Pacific participated in this workshop to discuss the Chapter strategies moving forward for this year. The theme for the APAC Summit was centered around securing the converged Cloud. Cloud represents the central IT system by which organizations will transform themselves over the coming years. As Cloud represents the future of an agile enterprise, new technology trends, such as Internet of Things (IoT), quantum computing, and container technologies extend the benefits of Cloud – but also create new attack vectors for ambitious and resourceful adversaries. While the conference discussed securing the converged Cloud, CSA also published a report during the conference, about the state of Cloud adoption in Asia Pacific.
State of Cloud Adoption Report 2017
Cloud computing has been marketed with its capabilities to offer flexibility, cost efficiency, data availability, easy backup and recovery for years. As Cloud slowly evolved to become an integral part of many organizations, it is without a doubt that Cloud adoption is growing significantly as with its increasing importance towards the global economy.
But blindly adopting Cloud will not grant us the desired benefits. There is a positive correlation between maximizing Cloud’s potential and the availability of in-country Cloud infrastructure. With increased adoption, the cost of using Cloud will likely be driven down. In this report, ‘Cloud Adoption in the Asia Pacific Region (APAC)’ is evaluated through examining availability and affordability.
