Cloud Security Alliance Hosts 28th ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 27 Meetings
NEW ZEALAND – April 25, 2017 – The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), the world’s leading organization dedicated to defining and raising awareness of best practices to help ensure a secure cloud computing environment, today announced that it has successfully hosted the 28th ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 27 Plenary and Working Group Meetings. The meeting in New Zealand took place from April 18-25th, 2017 with over 240 experts from 35 national bodies attending.
SC 27 develops and maintains the ISO 27000 family of standards that helps organizations keep information assets secure. ISO/IEC 27001 is the best-known standard in the family, providing requirements for an information security management system (ISMS).
Since 2011, the CSA has maintained an active role with the ISO in the development of cloud security and privacy standards under ISO/IEC. CSA has a Category A liaison relationship with SC 27, and holds Convenorship of SC 27 WG 4.
Mr. Aloysius Cheang, Chief Standards Officer and Executive Vice President of Asia Pacific for the CSA noted that, "Standardisation has been an important part of our strategy since CSA was founded. We are pleased to have come a long way in our relationship with ISO and SC 27, since first attaining CAT C liaison status in 2011 to gaining CAT A liaison status a few years later, providing Convenorship for WG 4, and hosting this spring's international plenary and working groups meetings. CSA looks forward to continuing to play an important role in global standardisation efforts in cloud computing and cybersecurity, and to contributing significantly to ISO activities."
