Cloud Security Alliance Announces Appointment of Caleb Sima as Chair for AI Safety Initiative
Industry veteran to lead development of CSA’s AI strategy and roadmap
SEATTLE – July 20, 2023 – The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), the world’s leading organization dedicated to defining standards, certifications, and best practices to help ensure a secure cloud computing environment, today announced the appointment of industry veteran Caleb Sima to the position of Chair of the Cloud Security Alliance AI Safety Initiative. Sima will work with CSA members and experts from around the world to develop CSA’s AI strategy, as well as a recommended portfolio of guidance to allow for secure and responsible adoption of AI.
“Artificial intelligence is the hottest boardroom topic today and may well be the biggest technology trend of all time. Caleb commands universal respect within the industry for his deep technical knowledge and track record as an innovator, entrepreneur, and corporate security leader. We are delighted to work with him to create the prescription for securing AI,” said Jim Reavis, CEO and co-founder, Cloud Security Alliance.
Popular generative AI solutions have a services delivery model that have allowed for easy experimentation and adoption, in much the same way that cloud computing reached critical mass. At the RSA Conference 2023, CSA released its first release candidate publication in this domain, Security Implications of ChatGPT. Based on the whitepaper’s widespread popularity, CSA is embarking upon an aggressive mission to provide the industry with pragmatic guidance and tools to manage AI risks. Sima and a host of industry experts will discuss leading-edge generative AI issues at the virtual CSA AI Summit on August 2-3.
"In the cybersecurity industry, our priority is safety. We must thoroughly understand generative AI, not just to manage risks, but to use it as a tool to enhance our productivity. It's our mission to make clear how AI's unique aspects align with our existing safety principles, and where we need to innovate. I'm genuinely excited to take this journey with our community, helping organizations use AI safely and confidently," said Caleb Sima, Chair, Cloud Security Alliance AI Safety Initiative.
Updates to CSA’s AI initiatives and opportunities for industry participation will be provided at the virtual CSA AI Summit, the SECtember in-person conference (Sept. 18-22), and periodically posted online at cloudsecurityalliance.ai.
