Cloud Security Alliance Announces Formation of Australia and New Zealand Regional Coordinating Body
New Body to Serve Growing Demand for Cloud Security Interest and Best Practices through Access to More Regional Activities
SINGAPORE – January 8, 2016 - The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), the world’s leading organization dedicated to defining and raising awareness of best practices to help ensure a secure cloud computing environment, today announced the formation of a new Australia and New Zealand (AN/Z) Regional Coordinating Body, to facilitate the growing interest in best practices for cloud security within the region.
The coordinating body aims to promote CSA initiatives in the worldwide security professional community, and to contribute to the CSA with active study and research on industry requirements and business cases in the region. AN/Z is one of the key regions leading cloud computing adoption, and the establishment of the CSA AN/Z Regional Coordinating Body will help to further the CSA mission of understanding and resolving the issues of trust, security and privacy facing cloud computing, both from a local perspective as well as contributing ultimately to the global understanding. Initial chapters under the coordinating body will be Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Auckland and Waikato.
"I am delighted to see the formation of the AN/Z Regional Coordinating Body and to serve as its first chair,” said Richard Keirstead, AN/Z Regional Coordinating Body Chair and Global Practice Leader Technology at Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ). “This sets a new foundation for our growth agenda in Australia and New Zealand at a time when organizations in both countries seek guidance on leading practices to safely implement and grow cloud.”
Sai Honig, Chair of the CSA Waikato Chapter said, "The use of cloud technologies is a disrupting force to both business processes as well as technology. As cloud consumers, we are often unsure of how to apply cloud technologies. CSA works to support the cloud consumer. As more businesses in the Waikato district (of New Zealand) become more acquainted with the availability of cloud technology, CSA will be able to support them with guidance and tools. Having the CSA AN/Z Regional Coordinating Body will assist with developing cloud technology in Waikato and all of New Zealand."
Aloysius Cheang, Managing Director of CSA APAC added, "The previous structure of chapters in Australia and New Zealand were limiting individual members ability to participate in regional activities, hence the establishment of AN/Z Regional Coordinating Body that will help promote more participation from the local perspective.”
The original board of directors of the previously established Australia and New Zealand Chapters will also serve as the board of directors for the Regional Coordinating Body. Subsequently, each Chapter’s Chair, in addition to another Director, will also serve as Board members of the AN/Z. Each official Chapter’s Chair, additional Director and RCB chairperson will be elected annually.
