Open Until: 05/20/2024

The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate some of the ways in which security can improve scientific research with HPC systems rather than hinder it. It will highlight the unique challenges with HPC systems, which are crucial yet vulnerable to cyberattacks due to their complex infrastructure and the sensitive data they handle. Security must not be relegated to the sidelines as the HPC landscape evolves. Striking a balance between speed and security is essential to safeguard these powerful machines and their valuable data. By prioritizing security and investing in innovative solutions, HPC organizations can ensure that these systems continue to drive scientific progress and national security while remaining protected from cyberattacks.
