Overview of the CxO Trust Initiative
Published 12/08/2021
Through the CxO Trust Initiative, CSA is looking to elevate the knowledge of cloud computing and cybersecurity best practices amongst executive teams by enabling Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) with tools to communicate cloud computing, risk, governance, and compliance issues to their peers within the C-Suite. Aimed at C-level leaders from various industry sectors with a vested interest in the successful evolution of cloud infrastructures and other related services, the CSA CxO Trust will spearhead, shape, and influence related security mappings and benchmarks.
The leaders of this initiative will also work together to develop practical privacy and governance models, training and certificate programs, mentorship and hiring best practices, wider regulatory/legislative programs, and product and services development. The CSA CxO Trust Working Group will conduct research consisting of best practices, metrics, surveys, C-level presentations, and other tools in support of the overall initiative mission. Additional details for the program can be found by downloading the CxO Trust Working Group Charter, as well as Top Cloud Priorities for CxOs, which was released in May, 2021. There are twelve cloud security priorities covered in the document that were selected for further analysis based on popularity and applicable content found within CSA and industry publications.
From the CxO Trust Advisory Council’s initial kick off meeting in November, some of the research topic ideas brought up include PII in the cloud, SaaS provider security, Zero Trust models, cross-cloud-platform security strategy, security operations and response, confidential computing, regulatory compliance, and cloud expertise, among others.
At the CSA Research Summit at RSAC 2022 on Monday, Feb. 7, we’ll be giving a talk about the CxO Trust Initiative. This session will give an overview of some of the research ideas and strategies listed above, as well as a roundtable discussion on the CxO Trust Initiative’s plan for the future.
